Watersafe Keep Your Emergency Water Supply Secure in the Watersafe™

    65 Gallon Bathtub Model
Having a clean, emergency water supply is a vital part of preparing for disasters. It is recommended that you store at least 1 gallon daily per person for up to 2 weeks.

WaterSafe can help. We offer a great alternative for fresh water storage.

  • QUALITY - Made of FDA approved, food grade materials
  • SAFE - Protect water from bacteria, dust, bugs, animals, and other contamination.
  • COMPACT - Stores on a shelf and expands to fit in a bathtub or sink or can stand alone
  • AFFORDABLE - Costs less than most water storage devices.
  • SUSTAINS LIFE - Have up to 65 gallons of clean water for drinking, bathing, cleaning and flushing

WaterSafe allows you to store water safely in your sink or bathtub. Alone, bathtubs are unreliable as emergency water containers. They leak, get dirty and are hazardous to children.

The WaterSafe is a large, food grade, plastic bladder that is placed in the bathtub first and then filled with potable water. It will protect water from contamination so it is safe for drinking, bathing, cleaning and flushing.

A five-member family would need 70 gallons of water to prepare properly for disasters. Purchasing bottled water costs about $60. The WaterSafe is about half the cost. The convenience, peace of mind, quality and compact storage ability are unmatched!

  • 5 Gallon Sink or Stand Alone Model

Featured Bulbs and Power Solutions from ZBattery.com

  • L.E.D. Replacement Bulbs
This is my favorite NEW hurricane supply. With this bulb your flashlight will work about 10 TIMES longer than with a standard bulb. It works in handheld flashlights that take C or D-size batteries. NOTE: It will not work in large flashlights with "lantern" batteries (the polarity of the battery is backward).
  • 75W Inverter
This is a must-have for your hurricane kit. It will allow you to charge your cellphone, iPod, and other small appliances from your cigarette lighter receptacle. If you want to charge a laptop as well, check the power consumption. You will likely need the 200W unit.
  • 200W Inverter
This more-powerful inverter will allow you to charge most battery-operated appliances from your cigarette lighter receptacle while you're driving. Check the power consumption of your laptop. Most will require this unit. If your devices all consume less than about 70 Watts, you can get by with the smaller 75W unit.
  • Batteries
The second most important hurricane supplies (after water) are batteries. Life without power is SO much better if you can use your portable TV, flashlights, radios, etc. without worrying about running out of batteries. Here you'll find batteries sold in bulk that will both assure you have enough to get you through AND save you money.

  • Keep the Power Running with Generators

You will soon find two groups of generators here. For most people, the first type, Portable Generators, will be the best choice, and you'll find a good selection below. But, some people will want the convenience of having a generator installed in their house, ready to go any time the power goes out. We will feature some options for you here soon. Before you choose any generator read the section of the Hurricane Almanac that explains the important considerations. It starts on page 255.
In this group you'll find six Briggs & Stratton portable generators offered by Amazon. They are good, solid machines made by a venerable company. Remember, you should look at the power number and then divide by two. For example, the 3500 what generator listed below will work best if the total wattage rating of the things you want to power is about 1750 Watts. It will power more than that, but the efficiency will be lower.

Make sure you have these supplies!

Be prepared and stock up with the supplies below that you don't already have on hand. If you mouse over the words "About This Item" for each item, you'll find a brief explanation of why it's important.

Amazon is a great place to find all kinds of supplies and products. Use the Search box to the right to save on anything you need!

About This Item►This is a terrific little color TV with good reception. It consumes only 15 Watts of power, so it's a great option if you have a small generator. Or, it uses 10 AA-size batteries, which is not ideal. But if you have plenty of them on hand it will run for quite some time. The unit comes with an adaptor so you can connect it to the cable as well.

About This Item►This radio allows you to listen to the sound from VHF (channels 2-13) TV stations as well as AM and FM radio stations. In addition you can monitor NOAA Weather Radio for your area. It takes 2 D-Cells. Be sure you have extras on hand.

About This Item►For apartment dwellers where generators are not allowed, a good battery back-up system is an essential. If you use it judiciously with low-power TVs, radios, and lights, this system will give you power for days. It will also keep you cellphone charged. If you have power at work, you can take it with you and "bring the power home".

About This Item►This unit and others like it will allow you to power/recharge your cellphone and laptop from you car cigarette lighter after a storm. It's a great backup to other power systems you might have.

About This Item►These are chlorine-based water purification tablets, the type I recommend in the book. You'll find iodine-based tablets that are much cheaper, including on this site. Iodine-based tablets cannot be used by people with thyroid issues and they need to be kept out of the sun. These tablets don't have those issues and the water will taste better. Notice however, you must let the water sit for up to 4 hours for the tablets to fully work.

About This Item►In case you need a good, large cooler for use during the storm so you can keep your refrigerator door closed.

About This Item►You can connect this antenna to the cable connection on your TV so you can still watch when the cable goes out.

About This Item►This extremely inexpensive TV/Radio will give you another way to stay informed during and after a storm. Notice that it require 8 D-cell batteries. I do not have a measurement on how long it will run on battery power, however. It also comes with a cord so you can run it off your car's lighter outlet. Also, see the color TV below.

About This Item►This is an ESSENTIAL item for everyone with landline phone service. You phone service will normally continue to work after the power goes out, but you won't be able to use it without a corded (not cordless) phone like this one.

About This Item►A manual (no electric required) can opener is an ESSENTIAL for every household.

About This Item►These extremely heavy-duty plastic bags are more than 3 times as thick as regular trash bags (3 mils vs. .9 mils). Use them to help keep valuables safe and dry.

About This Item►Here is an inexpensive way to heat canned foods or water when the power is out. Consider getting extra fuel as well, it will keep.
